Come celebrate the spirit of Faith, Freedom and Family with history coming to life all around at Colonial Days 2011. Bring the whole family for a unique, educational, hands-on, living historical event. Enjoy FREE entertainment, live encampments with demonstrations and some hands on activities for the whole family.


Walk into the Benjamin Franklin Print Shop and print your own copy of the Declaration of Independence, for a small fee, just as John Dunlap printed on July 4th 1776. Enjoy some time with the Crandall Historical Print Museum’s Leather Apron Guild under the direction of master printer Wally Salling.


Brent Ashworth’s Hall of History is a one of a kind experience. On display will be a W.J. Stone Declaration of Independence, In 1823 President John Quincy Adams commissioned W.J. Stone to make a brass engraving of the Declaration of Independence. Which was used to make 200 copies; today, less than 36 are known to exist. A 1787 United States Constitution, rare and unique historical documents, letters and printed pamphlets of the era, personal and public documents from founding fathers and mothers, and much more will all be on display. The experience will leave an imprint on every visitor. Young and old will be inspired by a rare and unique collection displayed by B. Ashworth collectables.


Spend some time in the living encampments. Stop by the revolutionary militia camp and learn about the life of a soldier and the camp followers. Experience live cannon fire, a tribute to fallen soldiers, and life of the women in camp. Don’t forget to enjoy a walk through our Field of historic Flags. Watch a true woodworker, busy at work. His cradles, coffins, tool boxes and more will all be on display. The Spinners are busy at work; artists are all around sharing their talents with all who attend. Enjoy demonstrations of colonial daily life; candle making, basket weaving, cooking, the reading of fables, cornhusk dolls being made. 18th century children at work and play will be waiting for a chance to play a game with you, as well. 18th century children at work and play will be waiting for a chance to play a game with you, as well.
Colonial square stage is showcasing local talent with an 18th century flare. There will be Dancing, singing, music, the art of oration all on stage for your entertainment. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Abigail Adams, and many other historical characters of the past will be in attendance for your enjoyment.
